Journalism was once a craft left for "professional" journalists, trained in the legacy of Edward R. Murrow. Today, every one of us is a journalist.
A father of a returning soldier from Afghanistan took it upon himself to tell the story of Fort Bragg Army base's deplorable conditions. Using his will, cameras, and YouTube, this father showed the conditions to the world, and the Pentagon listened.
What does this mean? Well, the concept of citizen journalism has been evolving for some time, but this is a stark illustration that it is here, and in a big way. But, this raises question and concerns about ethics.
As the power of the camera, computer and the internet become more and more realized, there will be some people who use this newfounnd power to their advantage - perhaps with little regard for fact, which was something that was at least at the center of the profession of journalism.
